1AS Final Week: Finishing Collages and Teddy Drawing

This week 1AS finished off their wonderful landscape collages by adding their beautiful leaf prints:

Exciting news! These collages will be displayed in the Welling School gallery, along with other work from year 1 and year 5 - look out for the blog post with photos of the show on 7th May

This week 1AS brought in their own teddy bears to draw. They used charcoal on buff (brown) paper and chalk on black A3 paper - they look fabulous!

1AS also decorated their sketchbooks with treasure using collage -

Meeow!!

Well done 1AS, wonderful work. We are looking forward to seeing it displayed in the gallery...

Yr.5 Cardboard Sculptures

In Yr.5 we have been exploring a material that is pretty abundant, free...often overlooked, but one that is extremely versatile and offers all sorts of possibilities - CARDBOARD!
We began by playing with it in as many different ways we could think of and letting our hands and thoughts do the work...twisting, tearing, cutting, peeling, rolling, curling....

They came up with some very interesting and lovely sculptures.
We played 'pass the sculpture' where we'd have to work on something and then pass it on to have your neighbour add to it and change it in some way. This was fun and sometimes surprisingly difficult at first!

We then looked at some buildings and structures by architects and artists  and they created some amazing and very thoughtful ones of their own.
