Spring Term 2014

Welling School Art Outreach are working with Year 1 and Year 5 this Spring term. Keep checking this blog to see all the exciting artwork they have been making.

This week in Year 1 Miss Brown's class were thinking about the types of animals that might be found in a forest - particularly a magical fairytale forest!

They looked closely at pictures of British birds such as Woodpeckers, Robins, Kingfishers and birds of prey. They then made up their own fantastical birds that could inhabit the magical forest.

1B drew large birds on both sides of A3 doubled paper and then coloured them in with oil pastels. They then painted over with watercolour washes and the oil pastel resisted the paint.

Next week the bird will be 'fed' by the children in 1B and become three-dimensional! Watch this blog to find out how.

Lovely work 1B, the birds look wonderful!

  2. Thank you Rachael. Yes I agree, the children made up some fabulous birds - I can't wait to see them all flying in the gallery!
