5S make illustrations based on the Iron Woman by Ted Hughes

This week 5S made some really amazing work inspired by Ted Hughes's book - The Iron Woman.
They started the morning making textured rubbings from charcoal around the school...

and also making prints from textured objects. This one was was from some cardboard .

They also made some beautiful drawings from leaves, branches and other foliage that you might find in a marsh landscape.

We discussed what a marsh looks like and how eerie and bleak the marsh in the book seems...

They used some of their prints and rubbings to mke collaged images of the scene in the book where the Iron Woman emerges from the marsh.

They then drew back into their collages using charcoal.

Well done everyone - you have all made some interesting and very beautiful images!
